When you hire on new employees for your construction team, no matter what type of construction you are doing, one thing is very important: making sure that they know the rules and regulations of your job. This not only includes their duties as an employee but the many dos and don’ts of the workplace. If your employees skip over this training, they may cause injury to themselves or others or damage equipment.

What kind of regulations do you need to make certain your employees know? Well, if they’re operating any power tools or large equipment, you need to make certain that they’ve been trained on these tools and vehicles. Have them either take a course in using the tools or vehicle, or have them work with a mentor on the job. This on the job training, or apprenticeship, is often the best way of teaching a new employee how things work.

Safety regulations are also very important, and many construction companies have required safety courses that each employee must complete before they can begin work. Whether this takes the form of a video, a written exam, or simply a discussion of the various safety regulations, make certain every employee completes this training and signs a waiver stating that they understand how to be safe at work.
