As with any industry, people in the construction industry often look for advancement. While they may love their position and the work they do, no one wants to stay at the same job level for their entire life. Getting a promotion, after all, almost always involves getting a raise, and everyone needs more money. Electrical engineers are often called in to work on buildings after the initial framework has been built. They are the ones who will handle running all of the electrical cables through a new building. They are in charge of wiring light fixtures and switches, putting in electrical outlets, hooking the air conditioning and heating system into the building’s electrical grid, and even setting up the fire alarm system. Often, they work with the local power company to connect the building to the city’s power grid.
